Three local artists: Melody Shah, Sharon LoMonaco and the late, great David Gochenour, weave an abstract tapestry through the Natural World

Melody Shah is a lifelong artist inspired by the awe of the natural world. Her work includes illustration, digital imaging, industrial arts, and oil painting. Her recent deep dive into the world of cold wax medium has elevated her oils to a new and exciting echelon. In her Artist’s Statement, Melody writes: “Through this series of work, I welcome you into the peaceful solace of enchanting landscapes. “Visions of Wild Spaces” captures the magic of the natural world as it envelopes us in its timelessness, its quiet. In the open spaces around us, voices are in the water and wind and the raven gliding above. Wisdom is in the trees. The vast skies unite us. These sacred, wild places provide a chance to disconnect and humbly reflect on our place in the world.”

Sharon LoMonaco is a versatile and accomplished multiple media artist, known for her innovative and captivating artistic creations. With a career spanning over 4 decades, LoMonaco has consistently pushed her boundaries of artistic expression, exploring various mediums and techniques to convey her unique vision. In her Artist’s Statement, Sharon writes, “Visions of Wild Spaces” is an exploration of the untamed beauty that exists beyond our urban landscapes. Through my lens, I invite you to journey with me into the heart of nature, where the wild spirit of the world flourishes, unbridled and awe-inspiring.”

David Gochenour was a distinguished sculptor who left an indelible mark on the art world through his mastery of diverse mediums and his profound creative vision. Gochenour’s remarkable career spanned 60+ years across three vibrant states, California, Florida, and New York, where he tirelessly pursued his passion for art in multiple mediums. His expertise in working with welded steel, carved wood, meticulously carved stone, and ceramics, set him apart as an artist of unparal-leled versatility. His sculptures transcended mere forms, as he breathed life and emotion into every piece, drawing viewers into a pro-found exploration of his vision of the human experience.
