Volunteer at SAM

SAM has an active volunteer program with opportunities to help in a wide variety of ways, from staffing the gallery and gift shop, to helping with office tasks, improving the building and grounds, hanging artwork, assisting at openings and events, and much more.

If you are interested in finding a way to fit your skills and interests into SAM activities, click the link below, or stop by during gallery hours to chat and fill out a form.

We encourage artists become SAM volunteers and help out where needed.

Join us in bringing quality arts experiences to the residents and visitors of our region!

  • We offer an exciting variety of opening receptions, celebrations, performances, classes and much more. Check out the SAM events listings and sign up for our free email newsletter to get notifications of upcoming happenings. Most events at SAM are free!

  • Submit your artwork to invitational shows. Many SAM gallery exhibits are juried shows open to submissions from artists in a wide variety of mediums and genres including performance, written word and video. Artists Calls are sent out in our e-news. Click here to sign up for our e-news.

  • We invite proposals from individuals and groups for interesting, compelling and exciting art shows. Click here to learn more about the proposal process.

  • Create your own art in SAM’s Community Makers Space. The Makers Space is gaining popularity with locals and visitors alike. We have plenty of paint, pens, pencils, paper and other supplies for collages, printmaking, drawing, painting, papier mache, encaustic, and more! You are also welcome to bring your own art supplies.   • Come take a class or teach one! SAM is a wonderful venue for presenting workshops, classes, lectures, slideshows and arts activities. We invite all proposals for using SAM space to present activities. Workshops for artists. Activities for kids. Public programs.   • SAM is a wonderful venue for performances for small audiences, with elegant open spaces, availability of seating, and much more. With the lovely ambiance of SAM’s gallery and musem spaces, the back deck and garden area, SAM is well suited for private events.
